Moose on the loose
Monday 20:27GMT, November 30 2009
On Nov 30 2009 James Newall let his fellow Robots know that he would not be returning for the 2010 season. In what he described as a difficult decision to reach however his circumstances dictated this decision. Newall also commented “I have no intention of playing for any other baseball club” putting to rest any free agency moves. The player most affectionately referred to as the Moose commented “I have many fond memories and moments from past seasons and I will miss being around this season. I hope to be back and have the opportunity to score more such times.”
Bolton Baseball Club would like to thank James for all his efforts with the club and wish him all the best with his future endeavors.
Home run Derby 2009
Thursday 16:11GMT, October 29 2009
This year’s home run derby came down to a final between Matthew Norburn and Tony Berry. Tony was looking for his first ever home run derby title while Matthew was looking for his second. This turned out to be a battle of the injured, Matthew had not swung a bat in months after an injury and Tony suffered an injury to his hand that day. However after all the dust had settled, Matthew walked away with his second home run derby win.
Other competitions on the day saw Jamie Sherlock win the goalie game and the target game while Wayne Clark won the Waynee Lap game.
The home run derby officially brings an end to the 2009 season for the robots, and like every good robot, they will be back…
